Initializing a Baseline

After you have created a baseline, you must initialize it. That is, you have to populate the baseline with requirement information. You must be a baseline administrator to initialize a baseline.

To initialize a baseline:

  1. In the requirements manager, select a baseline from the Baseline drop-down list, or click Home. Open Baseline from the menu.
  2. Click the Down Arrow on Open Project and choose Open Baseline.
  3. Select the desired baseline to initialize from the Starting point drop-down list.
  4. If you want to baseline the current state of the project without performing baseline maintenance, click OK.
  5. If you want to perform baseline maintenance, select the Proceed to baseline maintenance after pressing OK check box, then proceed to the section “Modifying a Baseline” .
Note: When a baseline is initialized or modified, traceability, references, and discussion are not baselined.
  6. Click Launch Requirement Grid button to launch the requirement grid. Select a sub-set of Requirements and click View > Populate Baselines to populate a baseline. The Select Baselines to Initialize dialog box is displayed. Select the baselines and click OK. This will set the default filter to the current project.
