Template Editor

The Template Editor provides a layout page and a dedicated toolbar for creating and designing templates to be used in simulations.

The following table describes the objects and functions available from the Template Editor page.

Rich Text Button New rich text area Adds a new rich text area. Allows you to format text, including hyperlinks. Double-clicking the object displays the formatting dialog box where display text is entered, as well as settings for screen location (X and Y coordinates), size, arrangement (up or down), description, font size and style, and paragraph orientation. Additionally, a hyperlink can be associated with the text.
New Text Box Button New box Adds a configurable box.
New Button New button Adds a configurable button. Buttons allow the user to take an action within the screen.
New List Box Button New list box Adds a configurable list box for text.
New Multiselect List Box button New multiple-select list box Adds a multiple-select capable list box. The user can select more than one option by holding the Ctrl key and clicking the desired choices.
New Text Area button New text area Adds a configurable text area.
New Check Box button New check box Adds a check box.
New Option button New option button Adds an option button.
New Text Link New text link Adds a text-based hyperlink.
New Image button New image Adds an image. You can choose from an existing image object associated with the project, or add a new image object. Supported image formats are JPG, GIF, and PNG.
New Table button New table Adds a configurable table.
New Calendar button New calendar Creates a configurable calendar that allows a user to scroll through each month, and click to select a date. Configuration feature allows setting a default date from a table, or other variable.
New rectangle New rectangle Creates a rectangle object in the work area. Rectangles are used to group like items, and to create basic objects with special properties like headers and footers. Formatting features allow you to create colored borders, fill colors, and text. Rectangles can also be layered.
New Multiselect List Box button New script widget Adds a script widget in which you can add custom HTML, CSS, or scripting language code that extends the default behavior and appearance of a screen action.
Select Template button Select template Chooses a template as a foundation. This feature allows you to build a template based on another template with some common elements, such as a company logo and a navigation bar. You can add other elements to augment the base template. You have the option to choose No template if you do not want to use a template. The dialog box displays the following choices:
  • No template.
  • Project default template. Allows you to choose a default template to be applied automatically each time a screen is created.
  • Use template. Provides an additional choice to select an available template from a list.
Show Event/History Show Event/History: Undo Opens the Details window and displays the list of changes made to the template from which you can undo.
Delete Selection button Delete selection Deletes the selected object.
Refresh button Refresh Refreshes the Template Editor page.
Clear Document button Clear document Selects and deletes all objects on the page. This option clears everything and presents a blank page.
Window Settings Window settings Sets grid functions, snap to grid, and configures grid size. Sets connector line default to straight, curved, or orthogonal for the entire project for new lines. Any existing lines are not affected.
Exports as an image button Export as Image Exports the template under development to an image that can be saved, printed, and sent as an attachment to an email.
