Step 9 - Create the Customer Maintenance Simulation

Caliber Visualize supports a modular simulation design framework in which you can link one simulation to another simulation. This allows you to reuse common simulations, such as a login process, and distribute specific screens of your application to project stakeholders for review.

In this lesson, you learn how to create the Customer Maintenance simulation to which you can link to by adding a text link on the Welcome screen.

  1. Create the Customer Maintenance simulation:
    1. In the Project Explorer, under Visualizations, select Simulations. The Project Simulations tab appears.
    2. On the Project Simulations toolbar, select New simulation. The New Simulation dialog box appears.
    3. In the Name box, type Customer Maintenance, and then click OK. The Customer Maintenance simulation appears under Simulations in the Project Explorer.
    4. Under Simulations in the Project Explorer, click Customer Maintenance. The Simulation Designer appears.
  2. Add a Customer Maintenance screen to the Customer Maintenance simulation diagram:
    1. On the Simulation Designer toolbar, click the New screen action button Scenario Designer New Screen Action button..
    2. Type Customer Maintenance, and then move and connect the screen action under the Start step.
  3. Configure the Customer Maintenance screen:
    1. In the Simulation Designer, double-click the Customer Maintenance screen action. The Screen Editor appears.
    2. Click the New rich text button Scenario Designer Rich Text button. and add the rich text Customer Maintenance to the top of the screen.
    3. Click New button Scenario Designer New Button button. and move the button under the Customer Maintenance title.
    4. Name the button Employee Portal and configure the button to link back to the Welcome screen. Access the Details window and click the Button bar.
    5. In the Type list, select Redirect to action. The Link property appears.
    6. Click the Configure the link button Configure this link button.. The Configure Link dialog box appears.
    7. Accept the default Link is and Open in values and select Login to link the button to the Login simulation.
    8. Click Save and Close.

  4. Configure the Customer Maintenance link on the Welcome screen of the Login simulation to point to the Customer Maintenance simulation.
    1. Under Simulations in the Project Explorer, click Login. The Simulation Designer appears.
    2. Double-click the Welcome screen. The Screen Editor appears.
    3. Select the Customer Maintenance text link.
    4. Access the Details window and click the Text Link bar.
    5. Click the Configure the link button Configure this link button.. The Configure Link dialog box appears.
    6. Accept the default Link is and Open in values and select Customer Maintenance to link the button to the Customer Maintenance simulation.
    7. Click Save and Close.
